David Carriage is a Yuin/Gumbaynggirr man. Being guided and mentored by various Aboriginal Elders he has learnt much about country, culture, lore and respect. These include his knowledge of bush foods, medicines, arts and dance. He has worked for National Parks and Wildlife Service as a cultural tour guide where he guided school groups, community groups and tourists from around the world.
David has painted large murals for schools and businesses depicting local traditional stories. He has facilitated cultural education to school students and has danced with group of Mid North Coast including Saltwater Freshwater festivals. David expresses his creativity through many mediums, these include painting, jewellery making, woodwork and pottery. His main inspiration is teaching and passing on knowledge, he has discovered that art and storytelling is an important way to communicate and educate.
